Understanding the effects of COVID-19 on people’s physical health is still expanding. But a new study has found those diagnosed with the virus could be more likely to develop a range of neurological diseases such as depression, dementia, strokes or even Alzheimer’s. It also appears the risk could increase in patients hospitalised or admitted to intensive care. Oksana Pyzik, a senior teaching fellow in the School of Pharmacy at University College London, tells The World that more people need to understand coronavirus is not just a respiratory disease.
